Classic Plastic 101 Celebration Group Build. Celebrating the life of Chris Cortel

SPECIALIST 2ND CLASS
Hi All,

The body has now been fully painted and had the clear gloss coat and is now curing. For some reason the first primer coat dried before it hit the model which meant I had to sand the kit down and restart. I used a pearl yellow on the bottom half and pearl white on the top half. Although I am happy with the yellow it would have been a lot brighter if I had sprayed a white base before the yellow. I guess we learn as we go.

There really is not a lot to this kit to be fair, in fact I would say that even with all it's faults the Revell kit does have a lot more detail which does make it a better kit to work on. So with that in mind I will start working on the chassis which come in 1 part compared to the Revell's 2 parts.

Well that's about it for now, if you would like a more in depth look please feel free to check out my YT Channel

Cheers Richard
Hi All,

Well this marks an end to this build as it's all together now.

I used Tamiya white for the inside of the van, Tamiya black rubber for the mat in front and Tamiya flat black for the seat and the gear knob.

It's a nice simple build to be honest and for a change now parts needed to be altered in anyway to fit, this in it's self makes a change and was surprising too.

I have now built the Revell version of this van and now the Hasegawa version. I would say both kits have there good points and their bad points too. While the Hasegawa kit is a lot more simple to build then the Revell kit the Hasegawa kit does lack the detail of the Revell kit. Although the Revell kit is more complicated to build and the body is in about 10 parts and can only be put together around the chassis, which to be honest is a pig to do I believe that the Revell kit is the way to go, while more expensive it does have the details like door cards and doors that open and the peddles for the gas, brakes and clutch and a few more bits on top.

In saying that if you want a fairly cheep model to build/customize The Hasegawa kit it great and I can't wait to start building and customizing the Hasegawa Type 2 Pick-up Truck I have for the diorama i will start build later this year.

If you would like a more in depth look at this kit please feel free to pop along to my YT Channel

Until the next build thanks for following and take care.

Cheers
Richard

Wow Richard, Sorry I missed this build. I'll be watching it from the beginning today and will get all caught up!
I love the fact that you're dedicating all of this years builds to Chris. You are truly a kind and amazing man, and Chris is smiling down on you!
This build turned out so awesome! I've always wanted to build this kit and may have to pick one up eventually. The White/Green two tone you chose is my favorite!!! :cool:llap
